  3. Some men have been punished in similar ways.
  4. Some men have gotten away with similar verbal abuse without punishment.
  5. Some women have gotten away with similar verbal abuse without punishment.
  6. Male “bad boys” are celebrated/tolerated in ways that female players who swear etc. are not.
  7. Carlos Ramos applied the rules correctly, even if unsympathetically.
  8. All umpires should apply rules consistently and fairly.
  9. But, rules can be applied inconsistently, and often are.
  10. When we have inconsistency, it tends to privilege white people, and men, and especially a combination of the two.
